Economics studies the allocation of scarce resources; the way that individuals, groups, governments, and businesses make choices; and the consequences of those choices for people, nations, and society. To learn more about economics as a field of study for undergraduates, you can visit the web pages that are linked to the web pages of the American Economic Association. Click here: Undergraduate Economics.

Majors and specializations

The Department now offers three majors: (a) Economics, (b) Business Economics, and (c) Quantitative Economics. Students may complete only one major in Economics. A specialization in International Issues and Economics is available to students in all three majors. The Honors Program is open to high-achieving students in all three majors.
